WELCOME TO SCHOENSTATT!!!

Schoenstatt translated from the German language means: beautiful place. And that is what you will find. You can also visit the Schoenstatt Center and our Shrine, a Marian Pilgrimage Place when you travel towards Rockport and Lamar where it is located on the coast.

The Schoenstatt Shrine provides for you a natural and supernatural home. You will experience tranquility, peace and most of all our Lady of Schoenstatt, the Mother of God. She offers the grace of a home in her Mother heart for everyone who seeks answers in the confusion and uncertainty of life.

Schoenstatt is a Movement of renewal with a great mission of renewal for Church and world. Therefore, we receive the graces of renewal and of inner transformation in the Schoenstatt Shrine. We also receive the grace of Apostolic fruitfulness to go and enkindle the world for Christ and Mary.

Fr. Joseph KentenichOur Founder, Father Joseph Kentenich, had great God given, prophetic vision to educate a new person in a new community. This new person in an inwardly free personality, free for God and free to do what pleases God.

The disciples asked Jesus the question, “Master, where do you live?” His answer was, “Come and see!”

You are invited to come and see a place of grace, a place of inner renewal for families and family life, for Church and world, a beautiful place!

Schoenstatt is a Roman Catholic movement of religious and moral renewal founded by Father Joseph Kentenich in October 1914. The members, present in all inhabited continents, serve the universal apostolate of the Church in society and strive to fulfill the challenge of Vatican II, to “consecrate the world.”

Schoenstatt is a religious center, a place of pilgrimage, a shrine dedicated to Mary. The first shrine – located in Germany near Koblenz on the Rhine River – became a Marian pilgrimage place and a special place of grace on October 18, 1914. Throughout the years, many such shrines have been erected in the whole world, each of them exact replicas of the original shrine. They are the spiritual centers of the international Apostolic Movement of Schoenstatt. Countless people come to the shrine to pray, to unburden themselves, to entrust their special intentions to the Mother of God. At this holy place they experience Mary as a real mother and educator.

As a place of grace, Schoenstatt has touched the lives of millions.  The Schoenstatt Shrine is the movement’s spiritual home and center of life.  The shrine is dedicated to Mary as the Mother Thrice Admirable, Queen, and Victress of Schoenstatt.  In addition to the original Shrine in Germany, there are over 200 replica daughter shrines around the world (including ours in Lamar, Texas near Rockport) where people gather for prayer, renewal, and inspiration.

This small Catholic shrine is an exact replica of the original shrine in Schoenstatt, Germany, which is the center and “power station” of a Catholic religious movement of renewal. The small shrine, on a tree-shrouded hill overlooking Copano Bay, offers pilgrims a quiet spot in which to pray, meditate, and reflect. The shrine is open during the Winter and Fall from 7:30 A.M. to 7:30 P.M and Spring and Summer from 7:30 A.M. to 8:30 P.M.
