Greetings from the Confidentia Shrine,
The glorious Easter season reminds us of our dignity as children of God. Baptized in Christ, we have become a new creation, or, as Father Kentenich formulated it in the first of Schoenstatt’s aim, we have become new persons in a new community.
It’s a long held tradition that we renew our baptismal vows with lit candles, symbolizing that we are other Christs who bring his light into the world. The newly baptized also receive a white garment, reminding them of their dignity which they are to take unstained into the everlasting life of heaven.
It used to be a beautiful custom that children and adults alike would attend the Easter liturgy with a new outfit. Even if we didn’t think about it in that way, the new Easter suit is an expression that we leave the old person behind and commit ourselves once again to the new life fitting for Easter people. Our motto is our guide: as God’s children we trust in his providence and lead by sharing his love with all we encounter.
United with you in the Easter joy and victory,
Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary
